Oh, how I love the story behind this gorgeous, sustainable Swedish brand I just discovered!
A sunny autumn day in the south of Sweden on the open plains of Österlen. Three mums on a child-free weekend. A bottle of wine (or maybe more than one) and a lot of bubbling minds full of ideas. Two entrepreneur-moms and one frustrated don’t-know-what-to-do-with-my-life-mum and the idea of CINK was born!
With a flurry of products for kids of all ages they thought there was one big thing missing that none of them had been able to find: clean,
environmentally friendly, stylish dinnerware for babies and children.
Is it really that hard to design functional baby dinnerware in simple shapes, soft colors and without childish prints that perfectly complements the modern home? They thought not!
So with this in mind they started to design a dinnerware set. With inspiration from the shapes and colours of the plains of Österlen, CINK was created with the idea that they could hopefully grow to develop more products in the future.
The idea of the company is that the five colors of CINK should be constant in all their products. The company name is therefore the Swedish version of ‘cinq’, the French word for 5.
CINK products are made from organic bamboo, recycled from the waste created in bamboo chop sticks production. They are coloured only with water-based, food-proof colour pigments and unlike traditional melamine products CINK are not coated with any surface treatments.
Sustainable and safe… just the way we like it!
